The Umbrella Man

I realize I'm a few months late on this, but considering our post on Lee Harvey Oswald's tombstone earlier in the week, I thought I'd share another intriguing angle on the JFK assassination. This piece concerns "The Umbrella Man", the figure circled in the photo above. Why would a man be standing in Dealey Plaza with an open umbrella on a clear, sunny day at the exact spot where the shots were fired?

Like so many of us, renowned documentary filmmaker Errol Morris is still captivated by those few infamous moments in Dallas on November 22, 1963. Last year, Morris interviewed Josiah "Tink" Thompson, a former college professor turned private detective who wrote "Six Seconds in Dallas", an exhaustive analysis of The Zapruder Film. During their nearly six hour interview, Thompson provided some insight into the mysterious Umbrella Man.

Morris made a short film on this particular subject, which was posted on The New York Times' website on last year's anniversary of the assassination. Watch it here.
