As a long-time resident of Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood, I have grown to appreciate the bountiful variety of high-end shopping, dining, and entertainment options that my fellow yuppie-hipsters have grown accustomed to and now demand out of a freshly gentrified Chicago 'hood.
Perhaps my favorite local business (OK, definitely my favorite) is Half Acre Beer Company. Half Acre has quickly gained a loyal following in the city, and continues to appear on more and more taps in local bars, and on the shelves of neighborhood liquor stores. Hell, you can even get a 4pk. of Daisy Cutter at 7-11.
On my most recent visit for a growler refill, I was greeted by the chummy staff who gracefully offered up a couple of samples of their newest creations (I recommend the Callow Knife). While waiting for my Daisy refill, I learned from my man Trent that H.A. has plans to build a Tap Room on the premises. The brewery recently assumed ownership of the building that houses their brewery, offices, and storefront, and includes the chiropractic office next door. Trent mentioned that they harvested a bunch of aged wood planks from an old barn that had recently been torn down which will be used as part of the tap room's flooring and wall paneling. I do not have much more information at present but I'm going to try to speak with one of the brewers in the next few weeks to get further details.
Great news for those of us already on the Half Acre bandwagon! If you have not had the pleasure of sampling their fine beers, you can visit their brewery at 4257 N. Lincoln Avenue. Or, if you can't be troubled with venturing up to "The Square", then at least get your ass to Jewel and grab a four pack of Daisy Cutter, Gossamer, or Over Ale, for godssakes.
