Why Do We Love Movies?
We just came across this piece by Quint at Ain't It Cool News and absolutely love the premise, which poses a simple question: Why Do You Love Movies?
So, in that vein....
Why do we love movies?
Because we at RAJ crave escapism.
Because what else are we going to do with our Friday nights?
Because of Roger Thornhill.
Because there go the goddamn brownies.
Because of Citizen Dick.
Because walking anywhere is sooooo much coooooler in...sloooow...moooo-tiiion.
Because we learned what a jigowatt is.
Because it doesn't matter what Bob says to Charlotte in the last scene, so long as "Just Like Honey" is the soundtrack.
Because of Rosebud.
Because we're not electing the f**king Pope here, Larry.
Because John McClain's wife beater becomes so impossibly dirty in such a short amount of time.
Because you're like a big bear with claws and fangs, man. Big f**kin' teeth!
Because we choose life.
Because of FART.
Because of Kevin Spacey in Seven.
Because L.B. Jeffries broke his leg and had nothing better to do during his recovery.
Because John Hughes grew up on the the North Shore.
Because of Grandma Death and Frank the Bunny.
Because of Max Fischer and Herman Blume's feud over Ms. Cross.
Because of Traxler.
Because of Lloyd Dobler's boombox.
Because Daniel Day-Lewis freakin' commits!
Because we were wayyyy too young to see The Shining in 6th grade.
Because even though cell phones have tried their damnedest to ruin it, going to the theatre is still (usually) worth it.
Because of this.
Just scratching the surface here, obviously. Let us know why you love movies, too.
