Breathing a little more easily in Pilsen
Residents in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood can look forward to improved air quality with the announcement that Midwest Generation's Fisk power plant will be shutting down by the end of 2012. Fisk is one of two coal-fired power plants still operating in Chicago. The other, MG's Crawford plant, is scheduled to cease operations in 2014. The closures are part of a deal struck between the operator, city officials, and environmental groups. For more, check out WBEZ's coverage.
