Song of the Week - Sleepy Silver Door by Dead Meadow

It's Monday again, and we all know what that entails, the start of a long, miserable slog through another week. But why spend another forty hours of enslavement to The Man when you can tune in, turn on, and drop out? Brothers and sisters, unshackle yourselves from your desks, deprogram all of that toxic corporate speak from your lexicon, tear off your business casual attire, say goodbye to your cubes and let the heavy, heavy sounds of Dead Meadow open your minds to the true nature of the cosmos.

This D.C. band has been preaching the gospel of trippy, fuzzed-out '60's psychedelia since the dawn of the new millenium. "Sleepy Silver Door", off their 2001 self-titled debut, exemplifies their bluesy garage rock sound. These guys are all about laying down grooves to soundtrack an altered consciousness, or as Spaceman 3's Jason Pierce once said, "making music to take drugs to." While consuming hallucinogenic drugs are perhaps not the best way to begin one's week, rocking out to Dead Meadow most definitely is.
