Lotus Plaza is the oddly-titled solo project from Deerhunter guitarist Lockett Pundt (which is an odd name itself). His first release, 2009's The Floodlight Collective, was a collection of atmospheric compositions heavy on reverb-laden guitar effects and broad, overlapping washes of sound.
Pundt has evidently been working on new material in his down time with Deerhunter, as Lotus Plaza is set to release Spooky Action at a Distance April 2 on Kranky Records.
To promote the new album, Lotus Plaza will hit the road this spring with labelmates and RAJ faves Disappears (whose Pre-Language is due out March 1). They'll be at Lincoln Hall in Chicago on April 13.
We here at RAJ are psyched at the prospect of devouring new music from such bangin' bands in the coming weeks. Keep an eye out for reviews. In the meantime, Pitchfork is streaming a new single from Lotus Plaza here, and Disappears is streaming a new track on their website.
