Two of the most anticipated stop-motion features of 2012 have recently released official trailers.
ParaNorman, by Laika (the makers of Coraline) is about a boy who can see ghosts. Laika has released two versions of the trailer. The first is without dialogue, and is set to Donovan's sixties classic "Season of the Witch". The second is more of a traditional trailer with narration and dialogue provides a better sense of the plot. Watch them both in succession below.
The second film is Tim Burton's feature length version of his 1984 live action short, Frankenweenie. The story is about a boy who brings his dog back to life a la Frankenstein's Monster. Burton originally made the short for Disney, who disliked it so much the studio washed their hands of him. Nearly twenty years later, Disney has finally realized they may have been wrong about this Burton fella, and are producing the film, which will be the first stop-motion feature to be released in IMAX 3D. Check the trailer below.
ParaNorman is scheduled for an August release, while Frankenweenie hits theatres in October.
